I was fortunate to have one of my photos displayed at the Bountiful Davis Art Gallery in July during the local Handcart Days festival. It is my first time ever having one of my photos in a gallery, and pushed me out of my artistic comfort zone. It was an awesome experience and I'm really looking forward to participating again next year with something bigger and better!
The theme this year was, "Hearts and Hands." Here is my artist statement explaining my choice of photo for this gallery:
“From Their Hearts to Our Hands”
The Salt Lake City LDS temple stands as a symbol of many things to today’s Latter Day Saints; whose ancestors sacrificed homes, families, and their very lives to come to this valley. They gave everything they had in order that they might live a life that they knew in their hearts would bring them profound joy in this world and beyond. Their faith led them to build the Salt Lake City temple which still serves to join families to this very day. It has become a tradition for newly sealed husbands and wives to photograph their hands together on the great temple doors, a gesture of eternity and unity. This photograph is an expression of the legacy of their hearts to our hands.
